New Orleans is a bustling city with many things to offer like amazing restaurants, beautiful live music, eventful festivals and stunning outdoor activities. Take a look at this list of New Orleans Outdoor Activities and explore this fun and vibrant city.
Take a Bike Ride to Explore the Various Neighborhoods
One of the best ways to see the city is on a bike. Take your time and explore all of the different parishes. You can rent a bike or use your own. There are also several bike tours in town as well as social bike outings. Two great businesses to check out are Flambeaux Bike Tours and Get Up N Ride NOLA.
Flambeaux is owned and operated by native New Orleanians and takes pride in sharing their heritage with visitors. The flambeaux (pronounced: flam-bow) are torches used in the New Orleans carnival tradition. The flambeaux carriers led parades on their routes and illuminated the night so revealers could see the floats. In the same spirit, they seek to lead guests around town and shed light on the history and culture. For something new and different, check out their Nightlife Ride.
Check out City Park
You can easily spend an entire day at New Orleans City Park and enjoy the outdoors. City Park is one of the oldest parks in the country. With its iconic oak trees and picturesque moss canopies, this 1,300 acre green space brings in millions of visitors each year. Browse the park’s artistic offerings at the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden and the Enrique Alférez Sculpture Garden. Take the whole family to a family-friendly outing at Storyland, or have a picnic near Big Lake. If you are adventurous, check out the park’s recreation rentals. Looking for some friendly competition, try your hand at City Park’s disc golf courses.
Golf at Various Courses Around the City
Grab your clubs and enjoy a day on the greens while teeing off at one of the city’s beautiful golf courses. Both public and private courses span the city and surrounding area. Uptown, you can tee off at the Audubon Park Golf Course or play like your favorite pros at TPC of Louisiana, home to the PGA’s Zurich Classic tournament. For a smaller course that is a bit less expensive, enjoy the Joseph M. Bartholomew Municipal Golf Course in the quiet of Gentilly.
