Edison and Ford Winter Estates

This historic estate was once the winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Visitors can tour the homes and gardens, as well as the museum and laboratory. The historic winter homes, acres of botanic gardens, museum, laboratory, Garden Shoppe (Garden Center) and Museum Store are open from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. daily. Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve

This 3,500-acre nature preserve offers walking trails, boardwalks, and wildlife viewing opportunities, making it a great place to experience Florida’s natural beauty.  The preserve is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including alligators, turtles, snakes, wading birds, and many other species of animals and plants. It’s a great place to observe and photograph nature in its natural state.  The preserve features over a mile of boardwalks that wind through the wetlands, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the area on foot. The boardwalks are wheelchair and stroller accessible, and there are benches and interpretive signs along the way.  The Interpretive Center at the preserve features a variety of exhibits that teach visitors about the history and ecology of the Six Mile Cypress Slough. There are also programs and guided tours available.
